What to expect with online counselling?
In light of current world events with COVID-19, supporting mental health is more important than ever. We are pleased to announce that we are now offering secure online counselling and therapy
Research has demonstrated that online counselling can be as effective as in person counselling and at times, more convenient for people who have difficulty making it into the office for an appointment. To make the most of online counselling, I have put together a fist of tips that can help you adjust to this effective way of working together.
Tips to make the most out of your online session:
Make sure you have a quiet and private space to meet online. Please find a comfortable space to sit, just as you would in a therapy office.
Set up your computer about 10 minutes before the session. Take the time to make sure your computer, microphone, and webcam are working okay
If you'd like, use a headset to ensure additional privacy
Free yourself from distractions by turning your phone off, see if someone can supervise kids, and let family or roommates know you are in session.
Check your intemet bandwidth and ask family to minimize use of intemet, if possible.
